Arts/Crafts/Games Site Volunteer

 

Supervisor:     Program Director

 

Prerequisites:

 

·        Must be at least 18 years of age

·        Must attend YMCA University

·        When working on long term projects, must attend First Aid/CPR and Child Abuse Prevention trainings and commit to a regular schedule as determined with the Program Director

3.      Provides a Quality Experience for Members, Participants, Internal Customers and Others:  Possesses the ability to deliver outstanding experiences for members, participants, internal customers and others; builds warmth and is supportive to provide service that will exceed expectations; responds to concerns and prompt resolution; looks for better ways to serve and involve members, participants, internal customers and others.

4.      Works Productively:  Demonstrates responsible actions; consistently performs duties in a safe and conscientious manner within the agreed up on timeframe; follows standards, policies, and procedures; is reliable and consistently punctual; actively participates in staff meetings, required trainings, and other work related activities; uses good judgment; uses YMCA resources appropriately and efficiently.

5.      Uses Effective Personal Behaviors/Communicates Effectively:  Treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team leader.

 

 

General/Specific Responsibilities:

 

The volunteer will visit one or more Safe ‘n Sound after school sites to lead an art/craft project or a group game/activity.  The volunteer will be given the supplies needed.

 

Volunteer Training:

 

1.      YMCA University

2.   First Aid/CPR

3.   Child Abuse Prevention

 

Skill Development and Progression:

 

1.      For volunteers interested in becoming paid staff, meet with Program Director to develop a course of action

 

Program Development:

 

1.      Assist in the implementation of innovative activities.

2.      Support the mission and philosophy of the YMCA and reflect these principles in your actions and promotion of all YMCA programs.

 

Effect on End Results:

Volunteers will be an integral part of bringing quality programs to YMCA participants while adhering to the principles and purpose of the YMCA mission, thus building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
